John Inman captures a wide variety of textures on this CD. He's done a nice job of meshing so many different influences into one package, without sounding "crowded." He has opened up for acts such as Tony MacAlpine and Greg Howe in the past, and it's easy to see why. John's fretwork is fast, really fast. I hear some Eric Johnson in his melodic songwriting, and some Reb Beach in the speed licks a bit. The one problem I find with this CD is the overall production. John does the entire drum programming himself, and the drums sound like they are programmed. They are very dry and digital. I also found some distortion in certain areas of the CD. I listened to it on three different systems, and it was still there. I can only hope that the disc I was sent for review is a bad pressing. I will anxiously be awaiting his next release due out in Y2K.
