A few years ago, Jason Becker stood on top of the world, his status as a premier guitarist was growing, his Cacophony albums with Marty Friedman had taken the shred world by storm, and he was the guitarist for none other than Hard Rock's premier frontman, David Lee Roth. Today, Jason is battling for his life everyday against a medical condition known as Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis which is also known as ALS or Lou Gehrig's Disease.

With Warmth in the Wilderness, the Hard Rock Music Community has come together to pay tribute to one of Rock's most influential guitarists, and a warrior whose will and enormous heart should be an example to all of us: Jason Becker.

The CD itself features an impressive list of Rock musicians performing Jason's music. Some of the musicians being featured are: Vinnie Moore, Steve Morse (Dregs/Kansas/Deep Purple), Jeff Watson (Night Ranger), Chris Poland (Megadeth), Marty Friedman (Cacophony/Megadeth), Paul Gilbert (Mr. Big/Racer X), Robin McAuley (MSG), Ron Keel (Keel), Mark Boals (Yngwie), Jeff Kollman (MSG/Mogg-Way), Jeff Pilson (Dokken), Anders Johansson (Yngwie), Mike Chlasciak (Halford), Mark Mangold, Ted Poley (Danger, Danger), James Byrd, Alex Masi, and many other notorious musicians.

The music on the CD is very good, as the performers do their best to put their style, emotion and feel as they play Jason's music. I was duly impressed by the song "A Jam for Jason" which is a song written by Jeff Kollman in honor of Jason Becker. The song is an all out guitar jam featuring Kollman, Vinnie Moore, Chris Poland, Jeff Watson, and Steve Morse. This track is worth the price of the CD alone.

Buy it for the excellent music, buy it as a show of support and solidarity for Jason Becker (all artist royalties, and Lion Music's label profits from this album will be donated to jason and his family), but most of all buy it, listen to it, and use it as inspiration from a man whose heart, will, and soul are stronger than fate itself.
