Rockology is a fitting tribute to one of Hard Rock's best drummers, Eric Carr. Eric gained notoriety by replacing Peter Criss in KISS for 11 years until his untimely passing in 1991. As a tribute to his friend and ex-bandmate, former KISS guitarist Bruce Kulick (Union) has put together a collection of demos and recordings of some of Eric's past work. And while it's not a stellar, well-produced album, it's a pretty neat collection of rarities that carries a very positive vibe.

Eyes of Love and Somebody's Waiting (MetalGod's Pick) are very cool straight-ahead hard rock tunes, but it's the gems such as Heavy Metal Baby, which features Carr humming the vocal melody to some parts of the song that didn't have lyrics yet, and the instrumental Just Can't Wait, that shine. These recordings give you some behind the scenes insight as to how songwriting for one of the most popular bands in the world was done, which is pretty cool in my book. Other highlights include Nightmare, Tiara, Too Cool for School and the fact that Bruce Kulick plays guitar on most of the record. This CD is essential to any KISS or Eric Carr fan. While Rockology showcases Eric Carr's drumming, songwriting, and vocal abilities (yes, he sings lead on 6 songs), it also manages to provide a celebration of the life and music of one of the coolest people in Rock N' Roll who left us way too soon.
