Legendary vocalist Glenn Hughes has been one
of the most powerful and versatile vocalist in Rock N' Roll
history from Trapeze to Deep Purple to Black Sabbath, Glenn
has done it all, or rather sung it all. With his latest
Opus, Return Of Crystal Karma, Glenn returns to his
Hard Rock roots. And it's a welcomed return that any rock
fan should embrace as R.O.C.K manages to rock hard
while still maintaining Glenn's funky side. Tracks like
"Midnight Meditated" and "The Other Side
of Me" highlight that funky style.
As with any Glen Hughes release, R.O.C.K
showcases the talent and range of "The Voice of Rock."
Glenn sings like there's no tomorrow on this record. Year
after year Glenn just keeps getting better and better? "Days
of Avalon" showcases Glenn's vocal talent.
Everybody talks about Glenn's singing ability
and they forget how great of a Bass player he is. Well,
R.O.C.K does its best to remind you how great he
is. On tracks like "Angela" and "Owed to
J" (a sequel to Deep Purple's Owed to G) Glenn rips
away on the bass lines. Guitars are handled by J.J. Marsh
and he does a great job. He has a very cool and unique style
where he can be funky, melodic and heavy all at the same
time. All these elements help make R.O.C.K a lot
of fun to listen to.
As an added bonus you get an extra CD, Glenn
Hughes - Live In South America. A very raw sounding live
record that will blow you away and also drive you nuts with
anticipation for Glenn's upcoming World tour - a must see!
Glenn's live rendition of his Black Sabbath classic "No
Stranger to Love" is alone well worth the price of
the CD.
R.O.C.K is Glenn Hughes' best album
in years, it's shock full of energy and melodic prowess.
Fans of great singing, solid songwriting and rippin' tunes
NEED to pick this up.
