About Our Reviews:
All CD's reviewed at The House of Shred are given an
overall "picks" (as in guitar picks) rating from 1
to 10, with 10 being the best. This overall rating is determined
by adding up the scores given to the four sub-categories of
"Shred," "Production," "Vibe,"
and "Songwriting," and then dividing by four. In the
event that the result is not a whole number or a whole number
plus one half, the reviewer may use his or her judgement to
"bump" the score either up or down to the nearest
whole number or whole number plus one half.
At the bottom of most reviews is a link to the disc at an on-line
music store. The House of Shred is a member of several sites'
"affiliate" programs, and ordering the CD's through
these links helps to support our website. We still purchase
many of the CD's we review, so even if an on-line CD store only
provides store credit, it still helps us out. So we encourage
you to buy music through our links whenever possible, and we
extend our thanks to those who do!
In the event that a CD is not available from any of the on-line
CD stores that we work with, we will provide you with a link
to the artist's web site or to a site that does have the CD
for sale. Our goal is to get great music into your hands, and
more importantly, into your ears!
For our readers outside of the U.S., we have joined the affiliate
