Dave Mustaine and Company are back with The World Needs A Hero, their heaviest album since 1992's Countdown To Extinction. In the past few years Megadeth had taken a more commercial, more melodic approach to their sound which displeased some fans. With The World Needs A Hero, they're back to the true "Grit" Metal sound. Not only that, but they incorporate a bit of melody in the midst of the heaviness, and it works very well.

New lead guitarist Al Pitrelli (Savatage/Widowmaker) is the highlight of this album as he shreds away like a man possessed. For long, Pitrelli has been one of the most underrated guitar players and it's great to see him have an avenue that allows his talent to shine. New drummer Jimmy DeGrasso also shines, the highlight for his drumming being the title trac,k where he forms quite a tandem with bassist Dave Ellefson, who is one of the premier metal bassists.

Dave Mustaine keeps getting better as a songwriter, guitarist, singer, and as a harbinger of sarcasm, as you'll see in his lyrics. This album has many different highlights that include the catchy "Moto Psycho", the beautiful "Promises", and the angry "Disconnect".

Old and new fans of Megadeth will not be disappointed with The World Needs A Hero as it packs a strong, headbanging Metal punch.
