On Welcome To The World, Psycho Motel's sophomore effort, Adrian Smith and company take a more "modern" approach than with their debut album State Of Mind. And it works to a certain extent because they manage to keep the melodic and hook-driven aspect to their music while incorporating certain modern sounds that complement it.

The addition of new vocalist Andy Makin drives the band to a new sound as Makin sounds like a cross between Kelly Keeling (Baton Rouge/MSG/Norum) and Layne Staley (Alice In Chains). Makin has a very strong voice that is featured prominently in all the songs. Welcome To the World features another solid performance from bassist Gary Leiderman and drummer Mike Sturgis.

All in all, Welcome To The World is not a bad score. If you're a fan of guitar music or modern-sounding melodic hard rock definitely pick it up. Personally, I prefer State Of Mind, but do not denounce Welcome To The World at all.
