This album rules! I know it does because while I was playing it the lady in the apartment above me came down and asked me to turn the music down. She only does that when I play kick ass metal.

From the first window-shattering wail, ShadowKeep lets you know this band has something special to offer. Offering a blistering barrage of prog-metal done the way it should be, razor sharp vocals, gut churning bass, thundering percussion and fist-of-God guitars. There are many bands claiming to play Prog-Metal but few actually deliver the goods. ShadowKeep puts them all to shame, carrying the torch lit by bands like Iron maiden, Fates Warning and Crimson Glory.

Fronting this mostly British assault team is Belgian singer Rogue M. His crystal clear voice falls somewhere between a young Geddy Lee and Geoff Tate of Queensryche. In fact, there's a hidden track of SK doing a ballistic version of "Queen of the Reich" that should please any QR fan. Rouge's vocals are crisp and strong and his voice fits perfectly with the furious riffing of guitarists Chris Allen and Nicki Robson. Rounding out the quintet are drummer Dave Edwards and bassist James Daley. These guys (and gal) are serious about their metal and they play it with style and fine ear for composition. You won't find any monotonous, heavy handed riffing or solos that go nowhere, not on this disc. The songs are well structured and the album is well produced giving it a clean, sharp sound throughout.

Painting their songs with a sonic palette of deepest black and blood red, SK explore classic prog-metal territory. Songs of blood and death, corruption and betrayal, sacrifice with no redemption in sight; SK will drag you into their dark dungeon and dare you to try and escape. But, you probably won't want to, not if you thrive on serious metal, great songwriting and vocals that can shatter glass.

Prog-Metal fans rejoice... then go get this album.
