After having inked a deal with Spitfire Records and having landed the opening slot on the Zakk Wylde Black Label Society's Penchant For Violence tour this year, Sixty Watt Shaman have been making quite a splash in the music scene. The main reason for that has been the quality of their music, a fresh, unique brand of groove-ladden, hook-filled Hard Rock that totally catches one's attention. And judging by their latest release, Seed Of Decades, Sixty Watt Shaman are planning to stay.

Led by vocalist Dan Herzwick and his trademark growl (he can sound like Phil Anselmo, Layne Stayley or Scott Stapp, but he mostly sounds like himself), this band just plain out rocks. They have blended the good aspects of bands like Pearl Jam, Soundgarden and Alice In Chains and blended them with heavy groover, melodic hooks, and tribal rhythms. And it definitely works on Seeds Of Decades.

Strong songs, heavy grooves and plenty of attitude - that's Sixty Watt Shaman's Seed Of Decades. In a time when the latest trends (the rap/rock mix) dominate the airwaves , it's very refreshing to see a band that foregoes trends and just wants to plain out rock. Definitely check out these guys.
