Steinhardt-Moon is a great blues/funk/rock project that involves Kansas violinist/vocalist Robby Steinhardt and Stormbringer guitarist/vocalist Rick Moon. Their sophomore release, Moonshot, truly showcases another side of Robby's vast musical taste along with Rick's stellar guitar playing, songwriting prowess and vocal talent. Moonshot also contains a bonus CD that contains rarities/demos/outtakes and an exclusive studio interview with both Steinhardt and Moon, quite a treat for the fans. On Moonshot, Steinhardt-Moon are also joined by an elite cast of musicians who have played with such greats as Gloria Estefan, Patti LaBelle, Ian Hunter and others.

Moonshot is a good collection of funky, bluesy songs sometimes reminiscent of early ZZ Top, Zappa, Capt. Beefheart, early Traffic and others in that vein. Just check out "Backseat Love Affair," "Shades of Black," and "Down And Out." The disc also features Steinhardt's killer rendition of the Soul Brothers' "Expressway To Your Heart."

All in all, Moonshot is a cool listening experience that features lots of raunchy guitar, cool instrumentation, raspy vocals, attitude, and tons of fun. Pick it up, open up a six pack and rock out!
